Overview
What is the EU Settlement Scheme?
The EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) allows EU, EEA, and Swiss citizens living in the UK before the end of free movement, along with their eligible family members, to secure their immigration status — either Settled Status (similar to ILR) or Pre-Settled Status.
Settled Status is granted to those who have completed 5 years of continuous UK residence and grants permanent immigration status. Pre-Settled Status is granted to those with less than 5 years’ residence and allows you to remain until you reach the 5-year threshold and can apply to upgrade.
The original deadline for most applicants has passed, but late applications with “reasonable grounds” for missing the deadline continue to be accepted by the Home Office — we assess whether your circumstances qualify.
We also assist eligible family members of EU citizens, including non-EU spouses, children, and certain extended family members, with their own EUSS applications.

Do You Qualify?
To apply for the EU Settlement Scheme, you must meet the following criteria. Our team will assess your situation in a free consultation before any fees are charged.
EU, EEA, or Swiss Nationality
You must hold the nationality of an EU, EEA, or Swiss country, or be an eligible family member of someone who does.
UK Residence Before the Relevant Cut-Off
You generally needed to be resident in the UK before 31 December 2020 (or meet specific family member provisions).
5 Years’ Continuous Residence (For Settled Status)
You must show 5 years of continuous qualifying UK residence to be granted full Settled Status rather than Pre-Settled Status.
Family Member Relationship Evidence
Non-EU family members must evidence their relationship to the EU/EEA/Swiss national sponsor.
Reasonable Grounds for Late Application
If applying after the original deadline, you must demonstrate reasonable grounds for the delay, which the Home Office assesses case by case.
No Serious Criminality or Security Concerns
Applicants must not pose a serious threat that would justify a refusal on conduct or security grounds.
