What is the Visit Visa?

The Standard Visitor visa allows you to come to the UK for tourism, to visit family and friends, for certain business activities, to sit an exam, or to receive private medical treatment — for up to 6 months at a time.

You can also apply for a long-term Standard Visitor visa (2, 5, or 10 years), which allows multiple visits over that period, with each individual visit still limited to a maximum of 6 months.
The most common reason for refusal is failing to demonstrate sufficiently strong ties to your home country — employment, family, property, or finances — that show you genuinely intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit.
We help you build a clear, well-evidenced application that addresses this directly, significantly improving your chances of approval.

Do You Qualify?

To apply for the Visit Visa, you must meet the following criteria. Our team will assess your situation in a free consultation before any fees are charged.

Genuine Intention to Visit Temporarily

You must intend to leave the UK at the end of your visit and not intend to live in the UK through frequent or successive visits.

Sufficient Funds for Your Trip

You must be able to support yourself (and any dependants) for the duration of your visit without working or accessing public funds.

Strong Ties to Home Country

Evidence of employment, family, property, or other commitments showing you will return home as planned.

No Intention to Work in the UK

You must not intend to undertake paid or unpaid work for a UK business or as a self-employed person (with limited permitted business activity exceptions).

Accommodation Arrangements

You must show where you will stay during your visit, whether with family, friends, or in paid accommodation.

No Access to UK Public Funds

You must be able to maintain and accommodate yourself without recourse to public funds.

Frequently Asked Questions

No — the Standard Visitor visa does not permit paid or unpaid employment in the UK, with very limited exceptions for specific permitted business activities such as attending meetings or conferences.

Each individual visit is limited to a maximum of 6 months, regardless of whether you hold a single-entry or a long-term (2, 5, or 10-year) visitor visa.

The most common reason is insufficient evidence of strong ties to your home country and genuine intention to return — we focus heavily on addressing this in every application we prepare.
In most circumstances no — Visit Visas generally cannot be extended in-country, except in limited cases such as for medical treatment or unforeseen circumstances. We can advise if your situation qualifies.
